Degree Credit at UCSB - UCSB Professional and Continuing Education (PaCE) does not grant degrees, nor are degrees awarded through the Open University Program. However, academic course credits earned through UCSB Extension/PaCE (XSB1 to XSB199 Undergraduate Open University courses) can be applied to degree programs at UCSB, provided all policies and procedures (including petitions) are adhered to as stated in the UCSB General Catalog.
*UCSB students should note that courses numbered X300-399 and X400-499 are professional-level (post-baccalaureate) credit courses and lecture series in fields other than education and therefore will not apply to degree credit.
Note: Petitions must be filed with the following UCSB colleges and schools prior to enrollment in Open University courses:
- College of Creative Studies
- College of Engineering
- College of Letters & Science
- Donald Bren School of Environmental Science & Management
- Gevirtz Graduate School of Education
Degree Credit at Another University - If you are seeking a degree at another university, you are urged to verify acceptability of the credit through consultation with your own university academic program advisor prior to enrollment through UCSB Open University Program.
Admission to the University of California - Participating in the Open University Program does not provide preference in admission to the University of California. If you are interested in applying to the University of California you should refer to the UC Admissions website or the admissions office of the UC campus you wish to attend for details about the admissions process.
