Employment is considered work performed in exchange for compensation. Compensation can include money, room and board, or other significant benefits. Before you accept any kind of employment, be sure it is allowed according to F-1 regulations.
As an F-1 visa holder, you are allowed to engage in on-campus employment. The following are some important F-1 employment guidelines to remember:
- You can work up to 20 hours per week if you are a full-time student.
- You can work up to 40 hours per week if you are working during a vacation quarter. You are eligible for a vacation quarter after three consecutive quarters of full-time study.
